R.I.P. Basil 2007-2008

Let's all take a moment to remember the delight Basil brought us all. More than a pet, we've lost a best friend.Basil: Haiku in Memoriam

Legs up in the air
Basil was flat on his back
The end came too soon.

How does one replace the irreplaceable?

I'm sorry to hear that. At least you got a good haiku out of it, however.

What next? What could possibly follow Basil... if we want to get a new rat, we have to ask the landlord, b/c the only reason he let us have him in the first place was b/c he was going to be homeless. (Aren't all the pet store rats too, condemned for terribleness?)
Jeff - Yes Jeff, we're so thankful our poetry is enhanced by this tragedy. ;)
D - Holding up good. Joel has only one year left now of his PhD! And you are finishing your master's, eh?
Claire - you're welcome to list my blog on your site, however it is kind of my husband's blog which I've commandeered... so we both post on it and he is definitely not a woman!
